A New York man living on St. Croix was arrested Thursday in connection with the March 24 drive-by shooting spree that wounded three people in front of the Sunny Isle Kmart.
Clint Sobratti was arrested on attempted murder and firearms charges.
Two vehicles opened fire on each other in the incident during a rolling shootout in front of the store. Two bystanders a 12-year-old girl and a 55-year-old man – and a man involved in the shooting were wounded in the hail of gunfire.
A second man, Felix Parilla, who is already in police custody on a separate charge, will also be charged in the Kmart incident, according to St. Croix Deputy Police Chief Novelle Francis.
The wounded man who was involved in the shooting, Eddie Martinez, was arrested at Juan F. Luis Hospital, about a block away from the shopping center, soon after.
Police believe the incident was related to a series of past shootings. Angel Felix, 26, of the Ralph de Chabert housing community was killed in the first shooting. A week later, a drive-by shooting occurred in the John F. Kennedy community, in which Martinez and two others, including a six-year-old boy, were wounded.
