Accused rapist Fawleh Muirri was returned to St. Thomas Sunday night to face rape and kidnapping charges stemming from an incident in which a woman was sexually assaulted after being offered a ride from American Yacht Harbor to Cowpet Bay.
Police said after the incident earlier this year that Muirri took the woman to Cabrita Point where he "had forcible intercourse with the victim," before dropping her off near the entrance of the condominium complex where she lived.
Police had said that the victim remembered the license plate number of Muirri's car, which led to his apprehension even though he left the island before being charged.
Muirri was placed on $100,000 bail and is expected to make initial court appearances this week.
