St. Thomas Man Arrested for Punching Girlfriend in the Face, Police Say

A St. Thomas man was arrested for physically assaulting his girlfriend, the V.I. Police Department reported Monday.

Jean W. Sterling, 47, was arrested after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend during a verbal dispute. The victim stated that Sterling punched her several times in the face and about the body after arguing about continuous phone calls that he received from a female, according to the police report.

On June 2, officers made contact with Sterling in the area of Heavy Materials (Turpentine Run Road), where he was placed under arrest pending his advice of rights hearing. Sterling is facing charges for simple assault (DV) and disturbance of the peace (DV), police said.

This case is presently under investigation by the Domestic Violence Bureau/CIB. Anyone having information about this crime can notify the Domestic Violence Bureau at (340)774- 2211, Ext. 5535.
