Man Extradited to St. Thomas to Face Fraud and Theft Charges

A St. Thomas man has been extradited from the state of Texas for credit card fraud, the V.I. Police Department reported.

A complaint was made regarding Keith Drigo Jr. stealing his grandmother’s debit card and using it without her knowledge and authorization. An investigation into the complaint revealed  Drigo Jr. stole his grandmother’s debit card and withdrew monies from her Banco Popular account, according to the police report.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Drigo Jr.’s arrest. Drigo Jr. indicated that he was no longer in the territory and gave no indication of his desire to return. A warrant was placed in the National Crime Information Systems and on May 15, he was apprehended in the state of Texas and held in custody, the police report stated.

Drigo, 30, was brought back to the territory through the extradition process and on Thursday, he was turned over to the Economic Crimes Unit. Drigo was advised of his Constitutional Rights, and he refused to provide a statement, the report stated.

Drigo was charged with fraudulent use of a credit card and grand larceny. His bail was set in the amount of $4,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing, scheduled for Friday at the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands, police said.
