St. Croix Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Committee to Meet May 11

Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources

The V.I. Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) informs the public that the following St. Croix Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Committee Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 11, at 5:30 p.m. In an effort to help to reduce the global spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), this meeting will be held via the video conferencing platform Zoom.

The agenda is as follows:

Public Hearing (public testimony will be heard)

Major CZM Permit Application CZX-12-23(L) has been submitted by Gentle Winds Condominium Association (GWCA). GWCA proposes the installation of an electrical power supply and a new wastewater treatment plant. The project site is Remainder Plot Nos. 3 and 3-DH Estate Salt River, St. Croix, Virgin Islands.

Federal Consistency Determination CZM0008-23(FC) has been submitted by the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA). WAPA proposes the burial of utility lines along the Queen Mary Highway, St. Croix. The proposed federally funded underground project will install underground ducts with manholes, pad-mount transformers and other underground devices to replace existing overhead distribution lines along Queen Mary Highway from Emancipation Drive in Frederiksted to the Villa La Reine Intersection.

https://dpnr.vi.gov/coastal-zone-management/what-we-do/coastal-zone-permitting/ and https://dpnr.vi.gov/coastal-zone-management/what-we-do/federal-consistency/ Further, plans for the proposed project are on file for review by appointment only at the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, Division of Coastal Zone Management, located at 45 Mars Hill, Second Floor, St. Croix, Virgin Islands 773-1082, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., except holidays.

Properly signed statements concerning the proposed project addressed to the undersigned will become part of the hearing record. Written statements must be submitted by May 18 via email to czm@dpnr.vi.gov.
