Viya, the only full-service telecommunications provider in the USVI, teamed up with global technology leader Fortinet to deliver an insightful technology presentation to an audience of business and government decision-makers at The Buccaneer Beach and Golf Resort in Christiansted, St. Croix.

The second TECH Talk presentation, since the normalization of business in a post-pandemic era, is the first of two that are scheduled for 2023. The event drew a sizable audience of technology professionals from across the U.S. Virgin Islands’ major businesses and government agencies.

In 2022, Fortinet was voted No. 1 in delivering superior Wide Area Networks for small branches, remote workers and security-sensitive use cases. Viya’s partnership with Fortinet ensures that it continues to be the premier full-service provider in the USVI.

The presentation was focused on Viya’s Business Solutions portfolio, which includes unified communications, connectivity, and mobile and leveraged assets implemented in today’s increasingly digital world. It also provided valuable insights into Viya’s ever-evolving and innovative suite of solutions using Fortinet’s cutting-edge security apparatus.

Fortinet is a world-renowned cybersecurity business with expertise in securing networks, cloud infrastructures and mobile devices built on its FortiGate platform, a physical firewall.

“As a business solutions and managed services provider, we understand the importance of maximizing investments made over the last 24 to 36 months. Viya is an end-to-end provider offering connectivity, managed networks and security, and through Fortinet’s technology, we partner to protect our customer’s data and privacy,” said Geraldine Pitt, CEO of Viya. “Partnering with Fortinet was an excellent opportunity to bring valuable industry and global insights and solutions to our customers and the broader USVI community.”

The presentation also addressed the current threat landscape, network security best practices, and emerging trends in Wide Area Network and Cybersecurity. The audience was given insight into Fortinet’s Gartner-rated, industry-leading security solutions and shown how they can be used to protect businesses and organizations from cyber-attacks, which Viya fully supports locally in the USVI.

“The USVI is an exciting market for us, and we are delighted to have partnered with Viya to deliver the product portfolio covered during this insightful presentation,” said Jose Carlos Vazquez, major account manager at Fortinet. “We believe that ensuring maximum availability of a customer’s network is essential for any business or organization, and we are committed to sharing our knowledge and expertise with the USVI community.”

With local Viya engineering experts Morris Reid and David Beck, and Fortinet’s own presales expert Joel Gooding, the presentation was well-received by the audience, who expressed appreciation for the valuable insights and practical advice provided. Attendees had the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session, where they had the chance to ask questions and gather information from the panel of experts.

Overall, the presentation was a success and demonstrated Viya and Fortinet’s commitment to driving innovation and technology adoption in the USVI.
