Police Investigate Shooting near Labor Department on St. Thomas

On Tuesday, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Kronprindsens Gade and Nye Nordsidevej, near the Labor Department on St. Thomas, regarding the discharge of a firearm, the V.I. Police Department reported. 

A preliminary investigation was conducted in the area with management for the Labor Department concerning the status of their employees. The officers were informed that none of the employees was injured, although the building sustained some damage, police said. 

Police were then dispatched to the Schneider Regional Medical Center Emergency Room after receiving a report that there was a gunshot victim at that location, according to the report. 

The victim explained that while in the area they heard several firearms being discharged and suffered an injury. They were transported to the hospital by private vehicle for medical attention, according to the report. 

The case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone with information should contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211, ext. 5576/5572.
