Supervisor of Elections Caroline F. Fawkes reminds candidates and political committees that pursuant to Title 18, Virgin Islands Code, Section 905, Campaign Disclosure Report, the Dec. 30, 2022 disclosure report must be submitted to the Office of the Supervisor of Elections no later than Monday, Jan. 23, 2023. The forms can be downloaded from the Elections System website at https://www.vivote.gov/candidates/forms.

Important note: If the campaign bank account has been closed, a bank statement reflecting that fact must be submitted. If under $500 remains in the account during this reporting period, a letter in lieu of the report stating such will be sufficient.

Further, contributions received or expenditures made in amounts greater than $500, or amounts received or expended in the six-month period that are not sufficient to be reported in the period shall be cumulative and reported in the next regular reporting period in which the receipts or expenditures, including the cumulative receipts and expenditures, are $500 or more.

Supervisor Fawkes also informs candidates, political party clubs and campaign leadership that it is against the campaign financing laws and illegal to have foreign individuals endorsing or supporting fundraisers in the Virgin Islands of the United States. A penalty will be assessed for such action.

Fawkes also said, “Failure to submit the campaign disclosure report by the deadline will result in candidates and political committees incurring fees. Candidates who are delinquent in submitting their report(s) on time are subject to having their names published in the local newspapers as elected officials. Campaign Disclosure Reports can be emailed to esvi.info@vi.gov.
