VIPD Investigating Thursday Night Shooting on St. Thomas

A gunman is still at large from a shooting that occurred on St. Thomas Thursday, the V.i. Police Department reported. 

VIPD and emergency responders were dispatched by 911 to lower Kronprindsens Gade after a concerned citizen reported a Black male lying on the ground. The citizen also reported that the male appeared to have sustained at least one gunshot wound to the upper body, and the male appeared to be slipping in and out of consciousness, according to the police report. 

Emergency Medical Technicians began life-saving efforts and transported the male to the Schneider Regional Medical Center via ambulance, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital, the report stated.

The deceased was later identified by next of kin as 35-year-old Jasmin Denver Thompson, police said.

Thompson’s death is the 8th homicide on St. Thomas in 2022, according to the Source Homicide List. The territory has had a total of 30 homicides this year.
