Ridge to Reef Farm to Hold Slow Down Dinners on Oct. 29 and Nov. 12; Senepol Exhibit to Open Oct. 29

Ridge to Reef Farm (R2R)

A Senepol Exhibit opening and presentation will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, at Little LaGrange Farm and the Lawaetz Museum (on Mahogany Road near Nidulari). The exhibit focuses on Senepol history and especially contributions from the Lawaetz family (and others). Admission is free, but donations are accepted; no RSVP is required.

A New Exhibit:

The opening of a student-led exhibit from Aarhus University with a presentation and light refreshments.

The Slow Down Dinner will take place at 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, at Ridge to Reef Farm (R2R) (Creque Dam Road) hosted by Nate Olive.

The next Slow Down Dinner date is Saturday, Nov. 12; please specify which date you are coming in your RSVP. The event will feature Chef Andy Thaldorf and Elizabeth Gallo.

There will be a special pre-dinner farm mini-tour.

Slow Down Dinner

(*Donation-only events support VI Farm to School Hub activities at Ridge to Reef Farm.)

Please join R2R on Saturday for a special day of Senepol. This cattle breed was developed on St. Croix over generations as a grass-fed cow suitable for the tropics around the world. Its story is an important heritage of the Virgin Islands. The first event takes place at the Lawaetz Museum in Little Lagrange in Frederiksted.

The second event will happen at Ridge to Reef Farm on Creque Dam Road (directions below and on google maps). There will be vegan options as well, as always — we are blessed with a late mango season!

Farmer Nate and his family are finally back! If you want to see the twins, go to both events because R2R certainly can’t guarantee they will be at both.

These dinners are not only a memorable night out, they are also instrumental in supporting the Farm to School program. This donation dinner will be used to front costs in our multi-farm food hub for the territory’s farm-to-school program. Thank you for showing your support as it makes all the difference.
