CZM Committee Meeting on Demolition and Construction Issues Set for Aug. 25

Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources informs the public that the following St. Croix Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Committee Meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 25. In an effort to help to reduce the global spread of COVID-19, the meeting will be held via the video conferencing platform Zoom.

The agenda is as follows:

Public Hearing (public testimony will be heard):

Federal Consistency Determination No. CZX-8-22(FC), the Virgin Islands Department of Human Services proposes partial demolition of the Anna’s Hope Administration Building in preparation for the reconstruction of the replacement facility. The existing building of approximately 7,470 square feet will be demolished and a new 7,680 square feet constructed in the same footprint. The proposed project site is located at No. 8 and Matr 36-A, Anna’s Hope, Christiansted, St. Croix, Virgin Islands.

Federal Consistency Determination No. CZX-9-22(FC), the Virgin Islands Department of Human Services proposes the complete demolition/removal of buildings and support structures in preparation for the construction of a new Concordia Head Start Facility. The existing building of approximately 1,577 square feet will be demolished and a new 8,826 square feet facility constructed. The proposed project site is located at Lot No.180 Estate Concordia (West), Frederiksted, St. Croix, Virgin Islands.

Federal Consistency Determination No. CZX-10-22(FC), the Virgin Islands Department of Human Services proposes the complete demolition/removal of buildings and support structures for the former Charles H. Emmanuel School Site in preparation for the construction of a new head start facility. The existing six (6) buildings, a playground, two basketball courts and paved parking areas will be demolished and eight (8) new buildings constructed. The proposed project site is located at No. 3 Upper Bethlehem/VICORP Land, St. Croix, Virgin Islands.

The applications are for public review on the DPNR-CZM Website at http://dpnr.vi.gov/czm/programs-viczmp/federal-consistency-viczmp/ respectively. Properly signed statements concerning the proposed projects, addressed to the undersigned, will become part of the hearing record. Written statements must be submitted by Sept. 1, 2022, via email to czm@dpnr.vi.gov.
