Mortimer Alphonso Davis Dies

Mortimer Alphonso Davis (Marty/Beltran) affectionately known by his children as “Dada,” of Frederiksted, St. Croix, USVI, was born on July 8, 1936. He died on July 12, with his children by his side.

He is survived by Daphney Davis; sister, Delores Davis; sons: Lloyd Davis and Kevin Davis; daughters: Bernice Davis-Prince, DeSilva Davis, Chyrise Davis-Eleonora, Deborah and Gibbs-Gulledge; sisters-in-law: Anastasia Doward and Alda Francis; brothers-in-law: Gerard Doward and Vincent Doward; daughters-in-law: Phyllis Davis and Kimberly Williams-Davis; and sons-in-law: Gregory Gulledge, Eduardo Eleonora and Joseph Prince.

He is also survived by grandchildren: Courtney Davis-Stevenson, Camille Davis, Briana Eleonora, Hydeia Wright, Tya Dalson, Makeda Eleonora, Kenijah Davis, Ausaru Davis, Jaylon Williams and DeAshley Williams; other survivors include great-grandchildren: Jordan Eleonora, Vaughnel Blake, Josiah Blake, Brendann Wilson, Brielle Wilson and A’milli Moton; nieces: Nadine Glasgow, Janet Davis-Jack, Collette Davis, Mario Davis, Laurisa Davis, Bernice Francis, Rena Francis-Hendrickson, Roma Francis, Telia Francis and Jewel Francis-Walker;

Other survivors include nephews: Alfred Francis, Shawn Francis, Ludwig Armstrong, Raymond Armstrong, Clyde Davis, Neil Davis, OKen Davis and Nevin Davis; best friend, Lloyd (Jughead) O’Brian; special cousin, Annabelle (Bella) Stevens; other relatives: the Hewitt family, the McIntosh family and the Doward family; as well as other friends and family too numerous to mention.

A Memorial Service will begin at 9:30 a.m., on Friday July 22, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
