Community Health Survey for HOVENSA Era Scheduled for St. Croix Adults Online

JoAnna Poblete, Ph.D., historian and professor at Claremont Graduate University, is launching a community health survey this week. Available for all adult St. Croix residents to fill out online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/STXsurvey, this academic-based questionnaire will gather information about health conditions experienced during the Hess Oil/HOVENSA era.

Responses can be anonymous. Since there is little consistent and detailed information about health during this time period, data from this survey will be shared in a free online public repository for anyone in the community to access and add to.

This survey expands on the information gathered by the “Building Environmental Justice on STX” project at Bennington College that was developed by David Bond, Ph.D., of Bennington College in collaboration with Crucian Heritage and Nature Tourism (CHANT), Virgin Islands Good Food Coalition, and St. Croix Environmental Association (SEA) in 2021.

Poblete will also be at AgriFest 2022 to survey community members in person.
