Ten Sleepless Knights Presents the 2022 Folklife Festival, Music, Dance with a Cultural View

Ten Sleepless Knights has scheduled the 2022 Folklife Festival Music, Dance with a Cultural View celebration for June 24, 25 and 26, which will continue on July 2 and 3. The festival celebrates the U.S. Virgin Islands’ culture, history and traditions influenced by the flags of seven nations.

All vendors should have their booths/tents showered in the theme of Folklife Festival, Music, Dance with a Cultural View. Vendor applications are now available and can be attained by emailing kc@tensleeplessknights.com or calling 210-867-4913.

On June 24, Ten Sleepless Knights will host the Folklife Reception at Government House, honoring:

  1. Asta Williams (storytelling, masquerade dancing);
  2. Cedell Petersen-Christopher (cauriso singing, masquerade dancing and storytelling),

III. Wayne “Bully” Petersen (painter, author, Quelbe musician),

  1. Willard John (Guardians of Culture Moko-Jumbies over 35 years)

The reception starts at 7 p.m. The rest of the festival schedule is as follows:

USVI Folklife Festival

June 24 — Folklife Reception 7 p.m. — Government House

June 25 — Cultural Workshops — Whim Museum Noon to 6 p.m.

1 p.m. – 2 p.m. — Storytelling – Under the Tree

1 p.m. – 3 p.m. — Moko Jumbies – Stilt walking

2 p.m. – 3 p.m. — Cariso singing and drumming

3 p.m. – 6 p.m. — Quadrille/Maypole dancing

3 p.m. – 5 p.m. — Candy making

2 p.m. -5 p.m. — Crucian Cooking – In the Outdoor Kitchen

June 26, 2022, Cultural Workshops – Whim Museum Noon to 6 p.m.

1 p.m. – 3 p.m. — Masquerade dancing and mask making

2 p.m. – 5 p.m. — Crucian Cooking – In the Outdoor Kitchen

2 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Candy making

2 p.m. – 4 p.m. — Quadrille Head-ties

3 p.m. – 5 p.m. — Traditional Quelbe and Masquerade Music

3 p.m. – 5 p.m. — Basket weaving

July 2 — Folklife Music Festival – Verne Richards Veterans Park

4 p.m.- 6 p.m. — Renaissance Quelbe Band

6:30 – 8:30 p.m. — The Sugar Hill Band from St. Kitts

9 p.m. – 10 p.m. — The Razor Blade Band for the BVI

10:30 p.m. to Noon — Ten Sleepless Knights

July 3 — Emancipation Program

5 p.m. – 6 p.m. — History of Emancipation Day

6 p.m. Quelbe Tramp — Ten Sleepless Knights

9 p.m. to Noon — Quadrille Dance Under the Stars/ Ten Sleepless Knights
