Plaskett and Team Visit St. Croix Easter Camp Sites and Fly Kites

Plaskett and members of her team visited several campsites on the island of St Croix and sponsored kite making activities for the children camping with their families.

On Good Friday, Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett and members of her team visited several campsites on St. Croix and sponsored kite making activities for the children camping with their families.

“Camping during the Easter week provides opportunities to create lifetime memories. Our office wanted to do something with the children that would get them moving, be healthy and share with many of them an island tradition they may not have been aware of until then.  Past generations on the Virgin Islands were avid kite makers and kite flyers and based upon the enthusiasm of the children we may have a new set of young people engaged in the art and pastime.”

“I want to thank the VI Police Department and DPNR officers who stopped and worked with the children. It was wonderful to see the adults at the camp join in and work with the children. I especially want to thank Deputy Chief Cornelius who met us at the Cramer’s Park campsite and shared tremendous instruction and guidance with the children – young and old!”
