A man at work cutting grass was shot to death Friday afternoon in Estate LaGrange on St. Croix, the V.I. Police Department reported.
The victim was identified by next of kin as 27-year-old Glenmore Southwell Jr. His death was the 40th homicide in the U.S. Virgin Islands since the beginning of the year, the 27th on St. Croix, according to the Source homicide list.*
According to police, at 4:25 p.m. Friday the 911 emergency call center received calls regarding a gunshot victim in Estate La Grange. The victim, who was identified as Southwell, was working cutting grass when someone walked up to him and shot him. EMS arrived and found signs of life, however, he passed away before the ambulance left the scene.
