Man Treated at JFL Hospital for Gunshot Wounds

A man was treated at the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital after he received multiple gunshot wounds during an incident Sunday evening in the Watergut area, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at 8:51 Sunday officers were dispatched to Watergut in the vicinity of the shanty, where a male victim was discovered suffering from multiple gunshot wounds about the body. The victim, whose name was not released by police in accordance with department policy, was transported to the hospital via ambulance for treatment.

As of Monday evening’s police news release the victim was listed in stable condition.

The victim told police he was having a verbal dispute with an unknown short, Black male with dreadlocks when the suspect drew a firearm and shot the victim. The gunman then fled the area.

Detectives urge anyone with information about this incident to call 911, the Crime TipLine at 340-778-4950, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS). Tips to Crime Stoppers that result in the resolution of a case can qualify the caller for an anonymous cash reward.
