Chris Pardo, architect and hospitality designer, was recognized in Dwell Magazine for his rebirth of the Waves at Cane Bay and his 30-year love affair with St. Croix.
Pardo designed Arrive hotels and private residences across the country and recently purchased the Waves and the King Christian Hotel in downtown Christiansted. An upgraded new look has been completed at the small hotel on the North Shore.
A brochure with photos of the King Christian that he saw when he was 12 years old sparked Pardo’s interest in the hotel.
“Fast forward seven years. I had obtained my undergraduate degree in hotel management and traveled to St. Croix for the first time. I was blown away by the people, architecture and natural beauty of the island and have been traveling here ever since,” he told the Source in an email.
The V.I. government recently awarded Pardo a lease for the Hotel at the Cay on Protestant Cay. It will soon undergo a $50 million renovation.
