Early dismissals were announced for three St. Croix District schools on May 6, due to a gaseous odor affecting the air quality on the campuses.

Schools impacted included Eulalie R. Rivera K-8, Arthur A. Richards K-8 and the St. Croix Career and Technical Education Center. Students who were engaged in in-person learning at the schools reverted to virtual learning for the remainder of the day.

The matter is under investigation by the Department of Planning and Natural Resources.

Later today, the Department of Education will provide an update on the status of the schools for in-person learning on May 7.
