Over the holidays, Limetree Bay’s employee engagement team asked 46 low-income seniors at Flambouyant Gardens what they needed most. On Jan. 15, Jeff Rinker, CEO of Limetree Bay; Tarah Graham-Hodge, director of human resources, training and government affairs; and Erica Parsons, stakeholder relations specialist, dropped off a truck load of supplies donated by employees and other personnel to fill care packages for the residents.

Senior citizens have been the most vulnerable population during the pandemic, so a senior residential community like Flambouyant Gardens faces unique challenges. The generous Limetree Bay drive gave basic need items, such as shampoos, soaps, towels, toothbrushes, laundry soaps and bed linens, to seniors who are on fixed, low-incomes.

Junia John-Straker, CEO of Lutheran Social Services of VI, was on hand to thank Rinker and his team for making time to personally deliver the gifts. “We recognize that this is a significant gesture of generosity from Limetree Bay and a genuine commitment to the V.I. community, for which we are so grateful. With so many of the seniors and vulnerable residents at our facilities in the high-risk category, it has been critical to ensure we have adequate staff and enough health and safety supplies to keep everyone safe,” Straker said.

Rinker emphasized Limetree Bay’s social responsibility and its continued commitment to support the surrounding community by “being a good neighbor.” “We were extremely pleased to support this effort,” Rinker said. “Our employees responded with overwhelming generosity to provide for the needs of the senior residents at Flambouyant Gardens, and it is a testament to their commitment to being a responsible part of this community,” Rinker said.

After delivering the care packages, Rinker visited with a resident who shared her gratitude for the gifts.

Lutheran Social Services of VI says it is grateful for the support of good corporate citizens, and it thanks the Limetree Bay employees and management for caring for the community’s senior residents and bringing hope during a very difficult time.
