VIPD Investigating Report of Robbery on Christiansted Bypass

The V.I. Police Department is investigating a report of a robbery that took place just after midnight Tuesday morning.

According to the police report, at about 12:03 a.m. Aug. 11, the 911 emergency call center received a report of a robbery at the Scenic Lookout on the Christiansted Bypass. A man and woman were reportedly sitting in their vehicle, a red 2016 Toyota Corolla, when two males, dressed all in black and wearing masks, approached the vehicle. The victims, whose names were not released by police said they heard the sound of a gunshot. They said the suspects were younger than 20 years of age, slim build, wearing black long-sleeved shirts and black masks.

The two males told the couple to get out of the vehicle and drove off in it. The vehicle contained the victims’ cash and personal effects.

Police urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the police by calling 911, the Crime Tip Line at 340-778-4950 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
