The Health Department reported 22 new positive COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, the largest single-day increase in the territory since the pandemic began. That brings the total number of cases reported by DOH since the beginning of the week to 32 since six other cases were reported on Tuesday and four on Monday.
Of the cases reported Wednesday, 13 are on St. Croix, seven on St. Thomas and two on St. John.
To date, 3,610 people in the U.S. Virgin Islands have been tested and 3,370 tests have come back negative, while 96 tests are still pending. There have been six fatalities within the territory, plus a University of the Virgin Islands employee who left the territory while ill and passed away in the states.
The territory had 144 positive tests and six deaths as of Wednesday evening.
