At about 3:45 Wednesday, the V.I. Police arrested Hasani Liburd, age 27 of Enighed on St. John, and charged him with being accessory after the fact in a shooting Tuesday in Cruz Bay.

According to the police, Liburd was observed returning a rental car that had been used to flee the scene of the Tuesday shooting. He said he had been paid to return the vehicle to the rental agency, but refused to cooperate any further with detectives.

He was placed under arrest for involvement in the shooting incident. Bail was set at $1,000. Unable to post bail, he was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.

Police urged anyone with information about the incident to contact 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 extension 5610, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
