VIPD Looking for Divers Who May Have Seen Missing Man

Police are looking for divers who were diving in the area of Bordeaux Bay on May 16 and might have seen what happened to a man who has not been seen since he was reported fishing there that day.

According to the V.I. Police Department, the family of 70-year-old Stanfield “Stan” Dumas reported him missing at 5:53 p.m. on May 16. He was last seen around 7:31 a.m. that day leaving his Estate Fortuna residence wearing gray pants and a green T-shirt. Family members reported that Dumas went line fishing alone in Bordeaux Bay and never returned home.

Investigators have learned that a group of divers might have been in the area and witnessed what happened, police said.

The police urged anyone who was diving in Bordeaux Bay between 1 and 4 p.m. on May 16 or anyone who has information about this missing person to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 ext. 5569 or the anonymous tip services, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
