Patrick Reginald Richards Sr. Dies at 72

Patrick Reginald Richards Sr., also known as “Pat” or “Spring Chicken,” of Estate Golden Rock, St. Croix, died on Saturday, May 9. He was 72 years old.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette Richards; son, Patrick Richards Jr.; parents: William and Inez Richards; grandmother, Rosie Michael; sisters: Jane Ann Anthony and Ione Richards; brothers: Carlton Richards and Everard Richards; brothers-in-law: Nathaniel Anthony and Joseph Andrews Jr.; aunt, Alice Horseford; and nephews: Rodney (Roddy) Richards, Coy Weekes, and Jonah and Jonas Andrews.

He is survived by his children: Ruthlyn Wiggins, Reanne Richards and Leonardo Richards; grandchildren: Tameka Carr, Tishaun Carr, Areanna Cole, Trevor Mars, Dillan Mars, Brandon Mars, Ryan Richards, Angelie Richards, Gabriele Richards and A’Nai Richards; great- grandchildren: Nehemi Mars, Symir Felder and Josiyah Jackson; mother-in-law, Sheila Mae Andrews; daughters-in-law: Sita Richards and Astral Battiste; and son-in-law, Fred Wiggins.

He is also survived by sisters: Edris Weekes, Ethlyn Haggerty-Horseford, Nolarine Joseph, Cynthia Richards; brothers: Elderfield Richards, Rolston (Kenmore) Richards and Elrose (Mikey) Richards; sisters-in-law, Myra (Melda) Richards, Antoinette Richards, Patricia Collins and Sandra Andrews Buffong; and brothers-in-law: Alfredo Andrews Sr., Sylvester Andrews and Samuel Andrews.

More survivors include special nephew, Miles (Ogden) Henry; special niece, Santosha Joseph Willis; nieces: Stacy, Blanche, Ethlyn, Tyre, Timona, Inez, Yvonne, Sharon and Sherailyn Richards, Claudette Hill, Rebecca Milligan, Debbie Henry, Kitichia Weekes, Jamelah Morton, Lovine Johnson, Desiree Richards, Pepie and Iyana Joseph, Denise Moore, Aaliyah Francis, Anisha Collins, Tekeisha Humphreys, Kimya, Brianna, Kyra, Alicia and Christina Andrews, Sayeeda, Shenequa, Shamalia and Shanifa Buffong; nephews: Rolston Jr., Johntue and Tony Richards, Jahbei Hamilton, Romeo and Nick (Kano) Henry, Anthony Weekes, Austin Haggerty, Robert Jr. and Richard Horseford, Tony and Junior Anthony, Pernell Green, Mallacoy, Darnell, D’Andre, Elseworth and Itieba Francis, Jenner Weste Jr., Alfredo Jr., Joseph III, Joseph IV, Jelani and Jamari Andrews, Mickey Brandy, Rasheen Knight, Steadgord Jr., Shamoi and S’Quan Buffong, and Justin Anson and Halik Milligan; great nieces and nephews too numerous to mention; special cousins: Onesimus and Charlene Daniel, Tamika Gerard and Kaleisha Blount; and godchildren: Shenequa Buffong and Shalena Prosper.

Patrick was a loving and kindhearted person. Always willing to help someone. He was an awesome father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He enjoyed life and was always ready to get the party started.

He will be missed by many, but his spirit will live on in our hearts forever.

A graveside service and burial will be held at Kingshill Cemetery at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2. The family requests that attendees wear a face mask and adhere to the social distancing requirements.
