Patrick Reginald Richards Jr. Dies at 45

Patrick Reginald Richards Jr., also known as “Junie,” of Harbor View, St. Croix, died on Tuesday, May 12. He was 45 years old.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Patrick Sr. and Bernadette Richards; grandparents: William and Inez Richards; father-in-law, Baboolal Dhanassar; mother-in-law, Ramnattie Dhanassar; aunts: Alice Horsford, Ione Richards and Jane Ann Anthony; uncles: Carlton Richards, Everard Richards, Nathaniel Anthony and Joseph Andrews Jr.; brother-in-law, Rajesh Dhanassar; and cousins: Rodney (Roddy) Richards, Coy Weekes, Jonah and Jonas Andrews; and godfather, Alphonso (Suki) Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Surgeyar (Sita) Richards; children: Trevor Mars, Dillan Mars, Brandon Mars, Ryan Richards, Angelie Richards and Gabriele Richards; grandchild, Neheni Mars; grandmother, Sheila Mae Andrews; daughters-in-law: Felicia Daniel, Valerie Sanchez and Africana Smith; sisters Ruthlyn Wiggins and Reanne Richards; brother, Leonardo Richards; sisters-in-law, Shanty Dhanassar, Allison Hughes and Astral Battiste; and brothers-in-law: Rampersad Dhanassar, Vishnu Dhanassar and Fred Wiggins.

He is survived by nieces: Tameka Carr, Areanna Cole, A’Nai Richards, Abigail Ramsey, Debby Hutchinson, Britney Hutchinson, Rachael Dhanassar and Jael Dhanassar; nephews: Tishaun Carr, Kevin Hutchinson, Michael Dhanassar and Mathew Dhanassar; great nephews: Symir Felder and Josiah Jackson; He is also survived by aunts: Patricia Collins, Sandra Andrews Buffong Edris Weekes, Ethlyn Haggerty Horseford, Nolarine Joseph, Cynthia Richards, Myra (Melda) Richards  and Antoinette Richards; and uncles: Elderfield Richards, Rolston (Kenmore) Richards, and Elrose (Mikey) Richards, Alfredo Andrews Sr., Sylvester Andrews and Samuel Andrews.

Luis Hospital Security team; and special community neighbors: Bates Trucking, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Browne, Elba Deleon and family, Kemba and Bromley Martin and family, Natalie Lewis and family, Nichole Hinds and family, Chapman family, Diane Tutein and family, Debbie and Laurel Lawrence and family, Turnbull family, King family, Tero Francis and family and St. Croix Central High School Class of 1993.

A husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Patrick loved his family. Quality time with his family and friends is what he enjoyed the most about life. He was a gentle giant who will be missed immensely.

A graveside service and burial will be held at Kingshill Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2.

The family requests that attendees wear a face mask and adhere to the social distancing requirements.
