Breaking: Man Arrested After Running in Downtown Charlotte Amalie with Gun

Traffic was backed up and police all over the place in downtown Charlotte Amalie Friday afternoon, after a man wrecked his motorbike and went running off with a gun in his hand. The incident apparently occurred after 2 p.m. According to police spokesman Toby Derima, police apprehended the individual and as of 3:15 p.m. he was awaiting details of the arrest, including the name of the person arrested.

The individual ran from the area by Fort Christian and through Emancipation Garden.

There were reports that the individual fired the weapon but Derima said no one was shot. The person had the weapon on them and ran off with it in their hand. Stay tuned for details as soon as they are available.
