Elections System Adds Dates for Distribution of Nomination Petitions

The Supervisor of Elections Caroline F. Fawkes has announced new dates for the continuation of distribution of Nomination Petitions and Papers for the 2020 Elections. They will be available for pick up at the St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John offices. The new schedule is

Monday, April 27; Wednesday, April 29; and Thursday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to noon

Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 8 from 9 a.m. to noon

Tuesday, May 12 (deadline) from 9 a.m. to noon

Effective April 24, due to the state of emergency because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Elections System is encouraging and authorizing aspirants to circulate their Nomination Petitions and Papers electronically.

The public is reminded that the Elections System offices remain closed; therefore, persons must contact the offices prior to arrival. The staff will ask a few questions to determine which Nomination Petition and Paper to distribute. The contact number for the St. Croix office is 773-1021/ St. Thomas office is 774-3107/ St. John office is 776-6535.

The office will only be accepting electronic submissions of the Nomination Petitions and Papers. Documents required for submission from the packages are:

Affidavit of Candidate

Affidavit of Circulator

Candidate Information

Candidate Verification Forms

The completed document should be submitted to the following email addresses beginning after noon on May 5: PetitionSTX@vi.gov or PetitionSTT-STJ@vi.gov (in the subject indicate whether you are filing a Nomination Petition and forms or Nomination Papers and forms and the name of the candidate). For updates, visit www.vivote.gov
