The V.I. Department of Human Services, Bureau of Motor Vehicles and Virgin Islands Elections System, urges anyone 60 years old or older and people with disabilities who live alone to enter their names into a disaster emergency assistance registry for elder, dependent, adult and disabled people.
According to the news release issued Monday by the DHS, registering with one of those three systems will allow the Department of Human Services to contact the individual and provide assistance and support in the event of a manmade or natural disaster.
Those who want to register can stop by the Department of Human Services, Bureau of Motor Vehicles or V.I. Elections System to fill out the registry form or simply call one of the DHS offices to provide information and have the form filled out by department staff.
