Police Arrest Suspect in October Homicide on STX

Detectives of the V.I. Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit arrested Voshon Vallarde Tuesday afternoon on a warrant charging him with the Oct. 7 murder of David Gonzalez, who was shot to death in the vicinity of Mutual Homes.

According to the police, the 22-year-old Vallarde, a resident of Barren Spot, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Bail was set at $1 million and unable to post bail Vallarde was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.

In a news release issued at the time of the murder, the police reported that a man later identified as 25-year-old David Gonzalez was shot to death on Oct. 27 in the Mutual Homes Housing complex in Grove Place. At about 3:40 p.m., the 911 emergency call center received a report of shots being fired in the Mutual Homes complex. Arriving at the scene, officer’s discovered an unresponsive male lying on the ground in the parking lot just outside the apartment building.

Emergency medical technicians and a medical attendant responded and were unable to discover any vital signs on the victim. Gonzalez was identified by next of kin.
