Wanted St. Thomas Man Turns Himself In

Shekil Berthier, a 19-year-old from Frydenhoj, turned himself in to police Friday after learning that a warrant had been issued for his arrest.

According to the V.I. Police Department, Berthier was charged with third-degree assault after he was identified as the individual who fired gunshots at a man in October.

Police did not provide any additional information about the incident.

Bail for Berthier was set at $30,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.

Police urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 ext. 5610. They also can contact 911 or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477.
