Pedestrian on STX Dies after Being Struck by Vehicle

A 70-year-old man died Saturday evening after being struck by a vehicle traveling west on the Christiansted Bypass, the V.I. Police Department reported.

As of 4 p.m. Sunday the victim’s name was being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

According to the police report, at about 6:15 p.m., a vehicle traveling west on the Christiansted Bypass in the vicinity of Peters Farm Condominiums struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway.

The pedestrian, a 70-year-old Caucasian male, was transported to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital via ambulance, but later died of the injuries he sustained in the accident.

This incident is under investigation by the VIPD Traffic Investigation Bureau.
