Man Killed in Campo Rico

A man was shot and killed Saturday in the Campo Rico area of St. Croix, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The victim was identified as 24-year-old Kaelan Finney. According to the Source homicide listing, it was the 22nd homicide on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, the 34th in the territory. The Source homicide list is based on police reports but, unlike the VIPD list and those in other media, does not include suicides or vehicular homicides.

According to the police report, at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, the 911 call center received a call reporting shots fired and a man down in Estate Campo Rico. Arriving at the scene, officers found the unresponsive body of an adult male, identified as Finney, lying on the ground beside his vehicle. The body had what appeared to be gunshot wounds to his upper torso.

The Major Crime Unit is investigating the case. Police urged anyone with information to call 911, the Crime Tip Line at 340-778-4950 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI 1-800-222-8477.
