V.I. Charter Association, DPNR, CZM Plan to Install 170 Moorings

Crown Bay Marina moorings, St. Thomas

The Virgin Islands Professional Charter Association (VIPCA) will be partnering with the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, Division of Coastal Zone Management (CZM) to install 170 moorings in the bays of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The moorings will reduce anchoring near ecologically important coral reefs as well as organize the bays to appeal for transient vessels.

The project will be located on all three islands: St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix. The public will be asked to contribute site location proposals. Project information is available for review at The Department of Planning and Natural Resources in the St. Thomas Library.
