On Sept. 23, the first phase of the new Route Match Software was launched on St. Croix. VITRAN ADA Plus riders will be the first to experience the automated dispatching and scheduling system, according to a press release from the V.I. Department of Public Works.
Buses are now equipped with tablets for automated vehicle location and real time communication with drivers. Route Match will also provide accurate manifests to VITRAN drivers, while ensuring real time pick-up and drop-off information.
The implementation of Route Match will bring a series of benefits to clients and the program. It will also allow schedulers and dispatchers to efficiently manage rider appointments.
As the Department of Public Works transitions into this new venture, it asks its customers to be patient as VITRAN implements the Route Match Software.
