Man Killed in Barren Spot Shooting

A 23-year-old man was shot multiple times Wednesday night in Estate Barren Spot on St. Croix and died of his injuries, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The victim was identified by family members as 23-year-old Khamir Powell. According to the Source homicide list, it was the 18th homicide on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, the 29th in the territory.

According to the police report, at about 10:54 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, the 911 call center dispatched officers to Estate Barren Spot for a report of shots being fired. At the scene, officers discovered an unresponsive black male and multiple spent casings on the asphalt surrounding a vehicle and the body on the side of the roadway.

The victim, later identified as Powell, sustained multiple shots to the body and succumbed to his injuries.
