Roberto Rodriguez Jr. Dies at 68

Roberto Rodriguez Jr.

Roberto Rodriguez Jr., also known as “Rican,” died on Thursday, July 18, in West Palm Beach, Fla., at the Hospice of Palm Beach County. He was 68 years old. He would have celebrated his 69th birthday on Sept. 16.

Rican was a resident of Frederiksted, St. Croix. He worked at the U.S. Post Office in Frederiksted for over 30 years. He loved living and working in Frederiksted.

The family plans on holding a memorial gathering in remembrance of Roberto “Rican” Rodriguez in the near future. He is survived by his wife, Sonya Rodriguez; sons: Alex Rodriguez, Roberto “Chino” Rodriguez III and Michael “Mickey” Rodriguez; mother, Alejandrina Rodriguez; sister, Nydia I. Rodriguez; nephews: Ricardo Pasos, David Mychal Canegata, Samuel Velasquez, Flaco and Pancho and Hector “Golies” Belardo; grandsons: Jamil Rodriguez, Amir Rodriguez, Michelle Rodriguez and Elliot Guzman. cousins: Yvonne Belardo, Myrna Whitehead, Cynthia Trump Pastora, “Tita” Perez, Tito Perez and Tito Perez Jr.; sisters-in-law: Rosita Canegata, Matilda Esquilin, Gloria Rivera, Carmen Rivera, Candy Rivera and Anita Velasquez; brothers-in-law: David Rivera and Aurelio Rivera; nieces: Wendy Brooks, Jennifer Rivera, Rose Perez, Nicole Canegata and Chenel Sender.
