V.I. Fire Service Graduates Six Firefighters on St. Croix

On Monday, Aug. 19, six new firefighters took the oath of office for the Virgin Islands Fire Service (VISF).

On Monday, Aug. 19, six new firefighters took the oath of office for the Virgin Islands Fire Service (VISF). The members of the Class 01-2018, also known as Fire Team 6, celebrated the completion of their training and the beginning of their careers as public servants at a small ceremony at Government House in Christiansted.

In attendance were Gov. Albert Bryan Jr., Lt. Gov. Tregenza Roach, Senate President Novelle Francis Jr., the management and staff of the Fire Service. and friends and family of the graduates.

Judge Harold A. Willocks conducted the swearing-in ceremony for the new firefighters: Bruce Phaire, Malcolm Martin, Keba Petrus, Ardron Dubois, Abednego Petrus and Manuel Rivera.

During the ceremony, Fire Service Director Daryl George Sr. expressed his pride in the graduates and encouraged them to do well in their new careers. “I am really proud of you all, so make us proud,” he told the new firefighters.
