Body of Woman Found at Hotel *Update* Woman Identified

The body of a woman found Sunday evening in a hotel in downtown Charlotte Amalie has been identified, police confirmed. The woman was an employee named Maria Elizabeth Jose Ramos, age 47.

According to police, at about 8:45 pm. Sunday officers of the Criminal Investigation Bureau were called to Windward Passage hotel as a result of the discovery of an unresponsive female.

Officers and emergency medical technicians on the scene found the female in one of the hotel’s room. From a preliminary investigation, police determined that the guests occupying that room discovered Ramos, who was unresponsive, in their room after returning at approximately 8 p.m.

Medical personnel on the scene confirmed that the woman displayed no vital signs and declared her dead. The cause of death is unknown, pending the results of an official autopsy.
