Anguilla Landfill Open Again

Rain closed Anguilla landfill for three days but on Thursday Waste Management Authority took steps to mitigate road conditions inside the Anguilla landfill that were hazardous for solid waste haulers.

“The slope inside the land fill was slippery and posed a hazard to contractors who were attempting maneuver their trucks to dispose of the municipal solid waste they collected”, Acting WMA Director Adrian Taylor said in a statement. The Authority purchased gravel and applied it to the road, stabilizing the area and allowing more than 15 haulers to drop off their loads at the facility on Thursday. Solid waste was picked up from the Cotton Valley, Mon Bijou and Concordia Sites.

“The safety of our contractors is paramount,” Taylor said, “as well as providing the best service possible to the public.”
