STX: Verbal Altercation Leads to Shooting

Three men were injured Saturday afternoon when a verbal altercation led to a gunfight breaking out at Rainbow Beach in Frederiksted, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The three victims, one a teenager and two men in their 20s, were being treated at the Juan F. Luis Hospital.

According to police, at 3:57 p.m. Saturday citizens called 911 to report multiple shots fired in the vicinity of Rainbow Beach.

Officers responded and determined that the three male individuals had shot each other during a verbal altercation, according to the report.

The two victims in their 20s were transported to the hospital by private vehicle and the male minor was transported by ambulance. All three were being treated at the JFL for their injuries as of Sunday evening.

The incident remains under investigation. Police urged anyone with information to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-778-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS.)
