Increasing Cloudiness Over the Weekend

There will be increasing cloudiness across the region today and through the weekend as a low level trough and a weak tropical wave move across the local area. Brief passing showers are in the forecast. Weather conditions are projected to be more unstable over the weekend as deeper moisture accompanying the tropical wave interacts with a mid/upper level trough. This interaction could yield the development of additional showers, some with periods of moderate to heavy rainfall.

Across the local waters, five foot seas with east winds between 5-15 knots (7-18 miles per hour) are expected.

There is a moderate risk of rip currents along the northwestern beaches of St. Thomas, and for beaches along the northeastern tip of St. Croix.
