A federal grand jury on Thursday returned a 10-count indictment against St. Thomas boxer John Jackson, charging him with two counts of production of child pornography, three counts of transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, one count of first-degree rape and three counts of second-degree aggravated rape, U.S. Attorney Gretchen Shappert announced.

Jackson was arrested Feb. 6 by the V.I. Police Department and charged with second-degree rape. Thursday’s indictment moves his case from the Superior Court system to the federal District Court.

The indictment stems from Jackson allegedly engaging in sexual activity and then producing images of his sexual encounter with a 15-year-old female minor. Under federal law, Jackson faces a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.

The case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Virgin Islands Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Everard E. Potter.
