The Virgin Islands Fire Service advises the public that a burn ban is currently in effect throughout the territory.

The ban, which prohibits all outdoor burning, has been issued by Director Nominee Daryl A. George because of dry weather conditions, which have increased the risk for brush fires.

All burn permits previously issued are hereby revoked.

For additional information, residents and businesses may contact the Arson Investigation and Prevention Units in their respective districts. The Prevention Unit in the St. Thomas-St. John District can be reached at 774-7610, and the Prevention Unit in the St. Croix District can be reached at 773-8050.
