STX Police say DNA Links Glen David to Firearm

The V.I. Police Department on Friday arrested Glen A. David on a firearms charge after DNA evidence linked him to a weapon seized last summer, according to police.

At about 11:25 a.m. on June 14, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau made a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by David on the intersection of River Road and Upper Love Road.

During the stop, an unregistered firearm, ammunition and other illegal items were discovered in the vehicle. David was released pending further investigation.

The investigation revealed that 22-year-old Glenn A. David is not authorized to possess or carry a firearm or ammunition in the territory of the U.S. Virgin Islands. DNA was obtained from the firearm and other evidence and sent to a lab for examination.

The examination revealed that David’s DNA profile was on the firearm that was discovered in the vehicle he was operating.

On Feb. 26 police obtained an arrest warrant charging David with unauthorized possession of a firearm and other firearms related charges. On March 8, David presented himself at the Wilbur Francis Command Police station with his attorney and turned himself in. Bail was set at $50,000 and, unable to make bail, he was remanded to Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility.
