Scattered showers with light to moderate rainfall are forecast across the local area from time to time today. High temperatures will range from the low to mid 80s with a prevailing easterly wind of 15-20 miles per hour, with higher gusts possible.
A mid and upper-level ridge will dominate local weather conditions today, but by late tonight and early Wednesday, the high pressure ridges will begin to weaken. A cold front approximately 700 miles northwest of Puerto Rico will continue to move to the east. The result will be an increased potential for shower development on Wednesday and Thursday.
Mariners can expect rough seven-foot seas across the offshore waters and passages, and six foot seas across most of the coastal waters. Easterly winds are expected today at 15-20 knots (17-23 miles per hour).
There is a high risk of rip currents at Cramer’s Park on St. Croix, beaches on St. Thomas and along the northeast coasts of the territory.
