Jefferson Titus, a 44-year-old St. Thomas man, was arrested Monday and charged in an assault with a machete, the V.I. Police Department reported.
According to the VIPD, at 7:16 a.m. Monday officers from the Richard N. Callwood Command were dispatched to Strand Gade in area of House of Pastries & Deli in reference to the victim being chased by an individual.
At the scene the officers made contact with the victim, whose name was not released pursuant to department policy. The victim told them he had been driving in the area of Weekes & Weekes Bakery when he saw Jefferson Titus. Titus then began following him in his vehicle, the victim said, until they stopped in the parking lot of House of Pastries & Deli parking lot.
The victim said Titus blocked his vehicle in, approached the driver’s side front door and broke the window front door with a machete.
The victim said Titus then began assaulting him with the machete through the broken window, at which time the man sustained a laceration to his left hand.
The victim was able to exit the vehicle through the passenger’s side front door and start running, as Titus chased after him with the machete. The victim was able escape on foot.
At 10:55 a.m. Monday police arrested Titus and charged him with third-degree assault, destruction of property and disturbance of the peace by threat.
Bail was set at $25,000. Unable to post bail, Titus was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.
Perfect example for a concealed carry , hes lucky the victim didnt have a gun , window smashing and slashing attacker , no leg shots either , that’s not what you train for. I’m sure someone will have an excuse for the attacker.
