Viya Offers Assistance to Federal Government Employees Affected By Shutdown

Viya, the premier telecommunications provider in the U.S. Virgin Islands, has always considered the needs and unique situation of residents in the territory. As federal government employees are grappling with the federal government shutdown, Viya extends relief to employees who are directly affected by the impasse in Washington, D.C.

Chief Executive Officer Geraldine Pitt said, “Like many of our customers, we hoped that this unfortunate hardship would have been behind us by now, clearly it is not. As your local telecommunication provider, with close ties to our community, we would like to immediately assist federal government employees who are directly affected by the shutdown.”

Viya’s assistance includes extended payment arrangements and the abatement of late fees. Federal government employees eligible must be the Viya account holder, provide proof of federal government employment with government issued ID or a letter outlining the current status of employment. Customers who qualify and wish to inquire about this offer, should log on to Viya’s website https://www.viya.vi/govassist/ to complete the simple form and upload the requested documents.

CEO Pitt concluded, “Viya understands that our Virgin Islands customers have been through a lot over the last two years. We know that keeping you connected to your loved ones with our landline and high-speed LTE service, keeping you connected to the world through our quality Internet service and helping you to stay relaxed and entertained with our Cable TV service, are all important to your general well-being. We are here to support you during this challenging time.”
