The V.I. Police Department on St. Thomas arrested 28-year-old Elijah Henry Tuesday and charged him with attempted murder in an October 2018 attack that sent a woman to the hospital.
According to the VIPD, the 911 emergency center received a call from Henry at 10:14 p.m. Oct. 9 stating that a female acquaintance had been shot. He also told the 911 operator that someone had tried to rob him, police said.
The victim, whose name was not released under VIPD policy, was taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center’s emergency room.
The woman had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and face. She was treated for her injuries and admitted to the hospital for follow up.
After further investigation of the incident, an arrest warrant for Henry was signed and issued by a Superior Court Magistrate on Oct. 23.
At about 7:25 p.m. Tuesday Henry was located at Oswald Harris Court and placed under arrest pursuant to his arrest warrant charging the following crimes:
– Attempted first-degree murder,
– First-degree assault/domestic violence,
– Third-degree assault/domestic violence,
– Child abuse,
– Mayhem,
– Use of a firearm during a crime of violence (attempted murder),
– Use of a firearm during a crime of violence (first-degree assault),
– Use of a firearm during a crime of violence (third-degree assault),
– Unauthorized possession of a firearm, and
– Possession of firearm with obliterated serial number.
Henry was transported to the Richard N. Callwood Command where he was advised of his constitutional rights, booked, processed and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.
Must really suck to not have a relative on the police force…
