As of noon, a total of 3,558 voters cast their ballots in the St. Croix District and 3,062 in the St. Thomas-St. John District, according to Supervisor of Elections Caroline Fawkes.

Those numbers are higher than at the same time on Nov.6. By noon that day, 2,900 had voters cast their ballots in the St. Croix District and 2,649 in the St. Thomas-St. John District.

When the polls closed, Nov. 6, 6,993 voters had cast ballots in the St. Croix District and 6,492 voters cast ballots in the St. Thomas-St. John District. More voters cast ballots on St. Croix, in early numbers both days and at the end of the day on Nov. 6 even though St. Thomas has more registered voters.

There were 14 days of early voting before the Nov. 6 general election, during which 11,829 voters cast ballots- nearly as many as were cast on election day. With only two days of early voting before the runoff, there were 7,334 early votes – considerably fewer than before the general election. That may partly account for the higher early turnout numbers at the polls Tuesday.
